Did you know sea otters hold hands while they sleep?

Did you know that sea otters sometimes hold hands while they sleep? It’s true! These adorable ocean animals float on their backs and may hold paws with another otter to help keep them from drifting apart.

They use kelp too!

Sea otters also wrap themselves in kelp, a type of seaweed, to help them stay in one place while resting.

A group is called a raft!

When sea otters gather together to rest, the group is called a raft. Some rafts can have dozens or even hundreds of otters floating together!

What do you think?

If you were a sea otter, would you rather hold hands with a friend or wrap yourself in seaweed while you sleep?
